THE FORCE OF THANKSGIVING 2 (PILLARS OF ATTRACTIVE CHRISTIANITY)
2 CHRONICLES 20:21-23
21. And when he had
consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should
praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise
the LORD; for his mercy endureth foreverđ.
22. And when they began
to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon,
Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smittenđ.
23. For the children of
Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Seir, utterly to slay and
destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, everyone helped to destroy one anotherđ.
We saw from the account of Paul and Silas in the last episode,
how they got into trouble. Then again, how they got their miracle through the
act of Prayer and Thanksgiving. Judah, during the reign of king Jehoshaphat
found themselves in a similar situation. Three most powerful nations at that
time, Moab, Ammon and mount Seir came together to fight Judah. Their intention
was to conquer and inherit the land of Judah. These were nations that got
spared by Israel during their conquest from Egypt into the promise Landâ.
king Jehoshaphat,
seeing how great a company his enemies were, he got terrified. This is because,
Moab, Ammon and mount Seir over the years have raised an army well-endowed in weaponry
and combating. They could be referred to as âguerrilla fightersâ in this twenty
first century. But the king did something profound. He quickly sought the face
of God and declared a fast throughout all Judah. Then God comforted them
through the Prophet Jahaziel saying they should fear not. For the battle is not
his but the LORDâs
All that the Lord needed from them was their praise and
appellations towards His Holy name. They rose up early in the morning the next day and positioned the singers before the soldiers and began to sing, whiles marching to the battle field. As they kept on praising as instructed, the
Lord brought a great confusion amongst their enemies. All of a sudden, the army
of Ammon and Moab turned against the army of mount Seir and they began to fight
each other. They fought till the last man was utterly wastedđȘ.
When the children of Judah and Jerusalem got to the camp of
their enemies, they were all dead. Then they began to park their gold, silver,
and precious jewels. Judah became ten times richer than, they were before the
war. From adversity into prosperity. This is what the power of praises and
thanksgiving can do in your life. Itâs the solid way of escape in every
terrible situation. Never get tired in thanking God for His mercies upon your
lifeâ.
